The Bristol Groupe was founded more than 40 years ago by Phillip DiVilbiss who is still very active in the business.
The Bristol Groupe started development activities in the Kansas City area in the 1970’s. The Bristol Groupes’ first commercial building was for Midland Research Laboratories which was also founded by Phillip, it was located in Lenexa, Kansas.
After a move to Southern California development continued in Southern California. This was followed by commercial office buildings being built in Blue Springs Missouri, in the early 90’s. In 1999 and 2000, the beginning of the current era of The Bristol Groupe is when brothers Dan Kirk and Greg DiVilbiss joined the company.
Lawrence Kansas was the next area of focus with the retail shopping centers Wakarusa Commons, home of Johnny’s Tavern West. Wakarusa Crossroads that opened with the Hereford House and Salty Iguana. The next dream was a corporate campus that included Lawrence’s largest Class A office building at the Wakarusa Corporate Centre.
Finally, retail development and land investment started in Gardner Kansas in Johnson County starting with Moonlight Commons Shopping Center where Austin’s Bar and Grill was the first tenant. Moonlight Liquor and Electric Sun Tanning & Boutique joined The Bristol Groupe family. Moonlight Commons is known as the best shopping center in Gardner KS.
Current plans are moving rapidly for development in Gardner Kansas. Our development team of Phelps Engineering (PEI) and NSPJ Architects are the best in the business and we are proud to have them as our partners.
